How to get to Catania Airport by Train

Passengers arriving at Catania Fontanarossa Airport can take a train.

Whether you're visiting Catania to see the exuberant late-baroque UNESCO World Heritage Sites or for a business trip, you may want to consider these various modes of transportation.

Catania's peak season is from May to October. Expect increased traffic at the CTA during these months. Because Catania- Fontanarossa Airport is the busiest in Sicily, the tourist season coincides with the most active months for passenger traffic.

To avoid complications, arrive at Catania Fontanarossa Airport two to three hours before your flight.

The best way to get to the airport is to book your Catania Fontanarossa Airport transfers ahead of time.

You could take the train to the airport. At CTA, there are two trains that you can use to get to your destination.

Trenitalia Train

There are numerous train options available at the terminal. CTA trains include the Fontanarossa shuttle and Alibus.

The AMTS shuttle connects the Fontanarossa train station to the airport. From 4:30 a.m. to 10:40 p.m., the shuttle runs every 10 minutes.

Tickets cost €1 and can be purchased at Trenitalia stations or online on the Trenitalia website by selecting "Catania Airport Fontarossa Bus" as your destination.

Please remember that a Trenitalia ticket to "Catania Airport Fontarossa" does not include a shuttle service. In this case, you'll have to walk 600 meters to the airport terminal, which is about 600 meters away.

Catania Central Station

You can also take a train from Catania Central Station. The AMTS "Alibus," which departs every 25 minutes, connects it to the airport. Tickets are €4. A ticket can be purchased on board or at the AMTS ticket offices.
